Rice Starch for Coat Care
Gentle cleansing, more volume, and a fresh, airy coat
Why rice starch?
Rice starch is a natural, hypoallergenic, and extremely fine powder used in professional grooming due to its strong absorbent properties. It binds excess sebum, dirt, and odors without irritating the skin, making it ideal for dogs and cats with sensitive skin or allergies. The result is a clean, airy, and voluminous coat that is easier to brush and style.
Perfect for oily coat & tomcat tail
Tomcat tail occurs when the sebaceous glands in the tail become overactive, causing the hairs to become oily, sticky, and matted. Rice starch absorbs this excess sebum immediately, making the hairs airy, fresh, and easy to comb through again. A simple, safe, and natural solution for cats prone to an oily tail base.
How to use rice starch?
For best results, rice starch should be applied as close to the skin as possible. This way, it works directly on sebum, dirt, and moisture.
Instructions for use:
- Sprinkle the powder evenly over the coat
- Gently massage it in so that it sinks well between the hairs
- Leave it on for a few minutes for optimal absorption
- Then begin brushing out carefully, preferably in layers from bottom to top
Use a soft slicker or coarse comb and brush without pulling
Repeat if necessary for very greasy spots or tomcat tail
Rice starch provides extra grip during brushing, prevents tangling, and ensures a fresh, airy coat without water or shampoo — ideal for in-between refreshes, grooming sessions, and sensitive animals.
